Despite what Martin Eberhard wants to believe, Elon was a cofounder of Tesla. Musk did say his biggest mistake was cofounding with Eberhard and he should have just done it with JB Straubel as originally planned. However the guys at AC Propulsion suggested they all work together and that is how Tesla was originally formed. Eberhard did such a bad job of running Tesla that the board unanimously fired him in 2007 due to a bunch of lies that almost caused the company to go bankrupt.
